Peter Jackson is back!

Fandango Movie Blog: “We’ve known this was coming for awhile now, but according to The New York Times it’s just become official: Peter Jackson will return to Middle Earth to direct The Hobbit. Honestly, it’s a move that makes the most sense. Let him finish what he started. Jackson’s deal is now finalized, as is the deal for Warner Bros., New Line and MGM to all help finance the two-part film, which some have suggested could cost upwards of $500 million for both.”

Make it happen Peter!

Netflix making headway

LA Times: “In a deal that could transform the landscape for digital movie distribution, start-up pay-TV channel Epix is in serious negotiations to give Netflix exclusive online rights to films from its three equity partners — Paramount Pictures, Lionsgate and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.”

We’re getting closer and closer to being able to stream movies on DVD release day. If anyone can pull it off, it’s Netflix.

Must see: Get Low

For years, townsfolk have been terrified of the backwoods recluse known as Felix Bush (Robert Duvall). People say he’s done all manner of unspeakable things —— that he’s killed in cold blood; that he’s in league with the Devil; that he has strange powers —— and they avoid him like the plague. Then, one day, Felix rides to town with a shotgun and a wad of cash…

I hadn’t heard of this film until last Friday evening, Kim played the trailer for me. Get Low, starring Robert Duvall, may turn out to be the sleeper of the summer.
