I love carving pumpkins, I really do. It’s something we do every year as a family. This year we didn’t manage to have the time, or everyone together, to carve like we normally do. I guess it’s something I’m going to have to get used to now our girls are all grown up.
When Haileigh and Aaron were married in early October Haileigh asked if I would carve a pumpkin for the wedding. It was a perfect fit, a fall themed wedding, and my love of carving pumpkins. How could I refuse?
It was a challenge, a good challenge, I wanted it to be perfect. It was after all my little girls big day, it had to be perfect. I was nervous about how it would turn out. In the end I was happy with the results, and more importantly, Haileigh was happy with it.

Fresno Bee: “12:42 p.m. Highway 198 through Visalia has been closed in both directions due to flooding from rainstorms that are pounding the area. It’s unclear when the freeway will re-open.
It’s been raining for a couple of days in the San Joaquin Valley, and the valley can’t deal with it. The ground is like a full sponge, it can’t take anymore.
Inside RogueSheep: “First, the good news. Putting iAds into an iOS application is as easy as the documentation says it is. And in its first week as a free app with iAds, SnoGlobe had respectable downloads, over 50,000 ad requests, and made 3 times what it made in all of November.”
My brother and I have struggled with the idea of making RxCalc free with iAds support. These results seem to support that idea but a Snow Globe app verses an Pharmacokinetics Calculator? I don’t have the slightest clue how that would work for us. We made RxCalc free for a day just over a year ago and downloads exploded, but there was no telling how many were by medical professionals.
We’ve also struggled to resolve our feelings about changing to ad supported because of our current user base. I think we’d do it in a heartbeat if there was any way to know if we were upgrading an existing user and turn off the ads. If there is a way to do that I’d love to hear about it. We could then make RxCalc ad supported with the option of turning off the ads for $0.99, for new users, and turn them off automagically for existing users.
Oh, and you’d be surprised how many folks are reluctant to spend $0.99 on iPhone applications.
Robert Reich (The New Tax Deal: Reaganomics Redux): “Yes, the pending tax bill will give America’s middle and working classes slightly more cash next year. But only for one year. They won’t spend it. They’ll use it to help pay down their debts. Will lower taxes on the rich spur them to create more jobs? Not a chance. Since 1980, Reagan’s supply-siders have said lower taxes on the rich will trickle down to everyone else. Nothing could be further from the truth.”
I hope this bad idea actually works, but I have my doubts. I mean, the eight years under President Bush were so fruitful with this strategy. Yes, that’s a bit of sarcasm. It’s too bad the GOP lawmakers aren’t interested in helping America, they’re only interested in helping the top 1% fill their pockets. Sad really.
We have a winner!

See you next Thursday.
ESPN: “DALLAS — After two failed bids to buy a Major League Baseball team, billionaire Mark Cuban is seriously considering trying to use his money to create a playoff alternative to college football’s Bowl Championship Series”
I hope the man is able to pull this off. College Football needs a playoff system, period.
Come to think of it, it’s about time for my yearly BCS rant, complete with playoff brackets.
Good morning, and good luck.
Ok, quick, what movie! Send your guesses here.
I’ve been an ok boy this year. I haven’t killed anyone at my new job, yet, but I really don’t see that happening. I think I’ve worked hard this year and I was kind of hoping you could deliver one of these lovely items to our home on Christmas morning. If not, I understand, but it sure would be swell.
Those items are from Rob’s Dream Wish List. I understand if those are a bit too spendy, that’s ok, there are other things I’d like to have. I have a list of stuff on Amazon as well as Think Geek, and my lovely wife always finds me special gifts that really make my day, so ask her if you need help.
Hugs and Kisses,
Rob
