Day Two: West Memphis, AR to Amarillo, TX

I’m a bit tired this morning, to be expected I suppose. I really do love the road. New places and interesting folks.

It’s raining here this morning and there isn’t a real coffee shop within 40 miles of my location. I’m gonna grab some hotel coffee and hit the road. My next update should be from Holy Grounds Community Coffee in Forrest City, Arkansas. Fingers crossed their mochas are good.

West Memphis, Arkansas

Went a little further than Memphis. But just across the river to West Memphis, Arkansas.

Traffic was fun in Memphis because the I-40 bridge is closed because it’s broken.

I’m tired. More tomorrow.

Welcome to Chilhowie

First stop of the day. I’m in the little town of Chilhowie, VA at a Taco Bell grabbing grub then I’ll juice up the truck and get back on the road.

Lots and lots of podcasts, books, and music queued up.

Not much to see from my vantage point I’m afraid.

Day One: Charlottesville to Memphis

I’m on my way to California for our nieces wedding and since I’m not a fan of flying, I’m driving.

I hope to share some pictures and words along the way so today I leave you with a picture of Kim’s gardenias 🌺 in our front yard and Grit Coffee. ☕️

I’ll share more tonight from Memphis.

Traveling Companions

While on our cross country trip I was alone in a moving van. It wasn’t bad, I was able to think about a lot of things, but more on that later, maybe.

I use my old iPhone 4 as an iPod. It doesn’t have an always on connection, but the WiFi is fine and I have a nice collection of music to help pass the time, if I feel like listening to music.

This trip was a prime time to listen to Podcasts, so that’s what I did for a majority of it. Here are the Podcasts that kept me company.

A cute little monkey.Yes, I listened to a lot of podcasts.

I hope to write a summary post about our trip. It was very tiring, but a complete blast, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. After I recover from this one.

Home Sweet Home

The final leg of the trip went a lot faster than I expected. We’re all in good health, extremely tired, but in good health.

Couple days of relaxation and back to the grind we go.

The Push Home

We’re on the final leg home.

Kingman, Arizona to Visalia, California. It’s been a lot of fun, but I’m ready to be home.

We found a nice little coffee roaster here in Kingman.

Arrived Kingman, Arizona

The drive out of Albuquerque was really beautiful. Red sands and lots of tabletop mesas. The American Southwest is really amazing, but you have to appreciate deserts to understand what I’m saying. Color me impressed.

Tomorrow, the push home, Visalia, California. Then, rest for a couple days. I’m exhausted.

Arrived Albuquerque

We left Denton, Texas, yesterday morning around 8AM and arrived in Albuquerque yesterday afternoon around 5:30PM.

A change to Mountain Time gave us another hour back, that was kind of nice.

Today’s goal is Kingman, Arizona.
